Indian two wheeler giant, TVS, recently launched the new StaR City+ motorcycle for Rs 44,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) to take on the highly competitive commuter segment. At the launch of this new mid-range offering, TVS has revealed that it will mainly focus on strengthening its product range this year. According to the company’s Chairman Venu Srinivasan, TVS will add the new Scooty Zest to its lineup by next month.
TVS first showcased the new Scooty Zest at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year. Built on the same platform that underpins the current Scooty line-up that includes the Pep + and the Streak, the Zest uses an 110cc engine air-cooled, single cylinder CVT-I engine that produces 8bhp and 8Nm of torque. The scooter’s engine is mated to a V-Matic CVT gearbox which is also found in the Wego.
Besides launching a new scooter, TVS will also reintroduce the Victor commuter motorcycle. Scheduled to go on sale in the next quarter of this year, the new Victor, is likely to get redesigned body panels and a whole load of new features. This will help it compete better in the market since the commuter segment itself now boasts of fairly advanced models with modern styling and new-age features.
