TVS Motor Company has pulled up its sleeves and is trying hard to make a big dent in the two wheeler industry in the country. The company recently launched the Star City Plus and confirmed to relaunch the Victor brand in the country.
A TVS motorcycle has been spied testing on the Bangalore-Nellore highway by a Team-bhp member, which could possibly be the new Victor. But if we look closely, you will be able to see many attributes from the Phoenix, TVS’ 125cc premium motorcycle. Interestingly, few weeks ago, a facelift version of the Phoenix, which may launch soon, was spied testing near the company’s facility.
The spied bike carries overall design cues of the Phoenix 125 but it is quite tough to make out the difference. The spied bike gets 5-spoke alloy wheels; rear turn blinkers which are placed very close to the taillight, the rear mud-guard and grab rail design is different and looks more utilitarian.
Unlike the previous spied TVS Phoenix bike, this test mule misses out on the front disc brake. After observing these differences, we can also say the spied bike is a cut-price version of the Phoenix 125, which might be launched along with the top-end model.
Mahindra applied the same strategy to the Centuro, their most successful motorcycle till date. They launched a cut-price ‘N1’ version which lacked many features and priced it Rs 2,000 cheaper than the ‘O1’ variant. This strategy is usually applied to target more customers using the same motorcycle. We believe TVS might use the same strategy to gain more market share.
