- Smart Key allows locating the scooter from a distance
- Riders can turn the scooter on by being in close proximity
- Offers immobiliser to prevent theft
Yamaha has launched the new S version of its popular sport scooter, the Aerox 155, in India. The S denotes Smart Key which comes with this version of the Aerox as standard and it is available exclusively with Silver and Racing Blue colour options. With a price tag of Rs. 1,50,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Aerox 155 S is Rs. 1,500 and Rs. 3,000 more expensive than the standard and MotoGP trims, respectively.
The Smart Key allows the rider to locate the scooter from a distance by flashing blinkers and emanating a buzzer sound. Moreover, it eliminates the need to manually insert the key to start the scooter since that can be done by being in close proximity to the scooter, rotating a knob on the key to the ignition position, and pressing the starter button. Lastly, when the key is out of range, it immobilises the scooter to prevent potential theft. The company says the inclusion of this feature will enhance the safety quotient substantially by preventing the risk of unauthorised access to the scooter.
The technical specifications of the S variant of the Aerox 155 remain the same as other variants. It continues to be powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled engine with variable valve actuation technology. The power and torque output numbers stand at 14.75bhp and 13.9Nm. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by telescopic forks and a monoshock while braking duties are handled by a single disc at both ends. It tips the scales at 126kg and gets a 5.5-litre fuel tank.
