- 2021 Yamaha Cygnus Gryphus 125 debuts
- Gets aggressive styling, full-LED lighting
- Powered by a 125cc engine with VVA
Yamaha has taken the wraps off the all-new, 2021 Cygnus Gryphus 125 in Taiwan.
The Cygnus Gryphus incorporates an aggressive styling with the front-end and split-LED headlamp drawing inspiration from the previous-gen YZF-R3. The scooter also gets a small visor on the headlamp cowl like the Ray ZR 125 sold in India. However, the LED tail lamp design looks out-worldly. Yamaha is offering the Cygnus Gryphus 125 in five colours- Light Grey, Dark Grey, Dark Blue, White, and Matte Dark Grey. Moreover, it is also available in a MotoGP livery.
Powering the scooter is a 125cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out 12bhp and 11.2Nm. In comparison, the Ray ZR 125 that is sold in India puts out 7.9bhp and 9.7Nm. Furthermore, the Cygnus Gryphus 125’s mill is also equipped with the famed VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology for better performance.
In terms of features, Yamaha has equipped the scooter with a fully-digital instrument cluster as standard and dual-channel ABS as an option. The Cygnus Gryphus gets disc brakes at both ends and rides on telescopic forks upfront and twin shocks at the rear.
While the Cygnus Gryphus 125 looks like an enticing product for those wanting a properly sporty scooter, it is unlikely to make its way to India anytime soon. If it did, the scooter would face competition from the TVS Ntorq 125 and Aprilia SR150.
