- New Cygnus X 125 spotted testing
- Gets liquid cooling
- Won’t come to India
Yamaha has commenced road testing of its next generation Cygnus X 125 scooter in Taiwan. One of the test mules were spotted testing on Taiwanese road.
From the pictures, it is clear that the new Cygnus X 125 could use a liquid-cooled motor. Currently, the scooter uses a 125cc air-cooled single cylinder engine. It looks like the Japanese manufacturer believes there’s a market for liquid-cooled engines in the 125cc segment in Taiwan. The interesting bit is that the company already has a 125cc liquid-cooled engine that powers the NMax scooter. So there’s a chance the same engine could be mounted on the new Cygnus X 125.
In terms of aesthetics, this new scooter will get some major changes. The overall styling will be more aggressive, and with the presence of things like LED headlamps and DRLs, the scooter is bound to look more enticing.
Yamaha is likely to unveil this new scooter in the next few months. Unfortunately, it won’t come to India as there’s no market for a scooter with liquid-cooling as of now. In India, Yamaha sells the Cygnus in air-cooled format which has helped them keep costs low.
