Although late to the party, Yamaha seems to have chosen the right time to expand its product range by entering the 125cc scooter segment. The manufacturer has launched the all-new Fascino 125 Fi that is available in four variants with price ranging from Rs 66,430 for the base variant going up to Rs 69,930 for the top-spec version. Here are the top 5 highlights of the Fascino 125 Fi, Yamaha India’s first BS6 compliant scooter.
125cc fuel-injected engine
While the previous generation of the Fascino was powered by a 113cc unit, the new version gets a larger 125cc mill that is now BS6 compliant. Fortified with Yamaha’s Blue Core technology for improved smoothness and efficiency, the motor now comes with fuel-injection and is now rated to produce a max power output of 8bhp and peak torque figure of 9.7Nm. It is a 30 per cent gain over the outgoing model.
Revised ergonomics
Yamaha has reworked on the seating ergonomics of the new Fascino 125 Fi by offering easy leg reach with a notably slim waistline allowing the rider to comfortably keep the foot on the ground. The footboard design is now more spacious as it now measures 393mm compared to 368mm in width and longer at 490mm from 410mm on the previous model. Yamaha has also repositioned the location of the handlebars for a more upright and comfortable riding stance. It is now 20mm higher and 18mm closer to the rider. Lastly, the seat is now wider with comfortable cushioning.
New features
In today market, features are a crucial aspect for a successful product. On the very note, the Fascino 125 come with a couple of new features like Stop and Start system which switch the engine off when its been idling for a while, Smart Motor Generator which ensures silent and smooth cranking of the motor and a side-stand engine cut-off switch which prevent the scooter from being ridden with the side stand out. Besides that, the scooter also gets a larger 21-litre under-seat storage and a multi-function key with seat opener function for ease of accessibility.
Improved mileage
By progressing to BS6 and implementing electronic fuel injection for the same, Yamaha has been able to make the new 125cc motor even more fuel-efficient than the 113cc unit. The company claims a good 16 per cent gain in mileage which allows the scooter to return a fuel efficiency figure of 58kmpl.
Colour options
Yamaha is offering the Fascino 125 in five colour options that are classified according to the variant selected. For the disc and drum brake version, buyers can choose between four colour shades of Suave Copper, Dark Matte Blue, Cyan Blue and Metallic Black. Meanwhile, the company is offering two additional colour shades of Vivid Red and Yellow Cocktail that are exclusive for disc brake trim.
