Yamaha recently teased the arrival of the FZ 25 BS6, hinting that the streetfighter would be launched in India soon. Before it arrives in the market, we tell you what to expect from the new Yamaha FZ 25 BS6 .
Updated styling
The new Yamaha FZ 25’s styling doesn’t stray far from the previous version. It continues to get a muscular fuel-tank, split seat setup and an edgy tail section. However, the new FZ 25 gets sharper tank shrouds that integrate faux air intakes, and new face thanks to the aggressive-looking headlamp with full-LED lighting.
New features
Apart from the LED lighting, the FZ 25 also offers new features like- a negative (white on black) LCD instrument cluster, an underbelly cowl, as well as a side-stand cut off switch that prevents the motorcycle from starting is the stand, is down.
Two variants
Yamaha is offering the FZ 25 in two variants- standard and a higher-spec ‘S’. Along with the standard equipment, the FZS 25 sports a taller windscreen and knuckle guards as standard.
New colours
The two variants are further differentiated by colour options. While the FZ 25 will be available in Racing Blue and Metallic Black, the FZS 25 will be sold in Dark Matte Blue, Dark Cyan and Metallic White. To add exclusivity to the package, the Dark Cyan and Dark Matte Blue options come with gold-finished alloy wheels.
BS6-compliant engine
Powering the new FZ 25 is the same 249cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that has now been revised to comply with BS6 norms. The motor produces 20.5bhp of power at 8,000rpm and 20.1Nm of torque at 6,000rpm.
Pricing
Yamaha hasn’t revealed the pricing of the new FZ 25 yet and will do so on the day of the launch. Nevertheless, we expect the base version of the motorcycle to cost a premium of Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 over the BS4 model which was priced at Rs 1.33 lakh (ex-showroom).
