The newly launched Yamaha FZ-X has started to arrive at dealerships across the country. The motorcycle was launched in the Indian market with prices starting from Rs 1,16,800 onwards. The new model in the company’s FZ series will be offered in two variants – Standard (Rs 1,16,800) and Y-Connect Bluetooth (Rs 1,19,800). The new Yamaha FZ-X features neo-retro styling that is inspired by the company’s XSR range. The design comprises of a round headlight, tall-set handlebar, an engine cowl, a step up saddle with a tuck and roll pattern for the seat cover, a basic pillion grab rail, dual-purpose tyres, and fork gaiters.
The seat height is 810mm tall while the motorcycle tips the weighing scale at 139kg (kerb). The new Yamaha FZ-X will be available in three colours – Matte Copper, Matte Black, and Metallic Blue.
The feature list on the motorcycle includes an LED headlight with LED DRL, an LCD instrument cluster, a USB charger, and a sleek LED taillight at the back. The company has listed several optional accessories for the FZ-X. These optional extras include a seat cover, tank pad, chrome mirrors, and LED blinkers.
The Bluetooth-enabled variant uses Yamaha Y-Connect tech that works with a smartphone application and displays call alerts, SMS and email notifications, and phone battery level on the instrument cluster.
The smartphone app records details about the fuel consumption, maintenance recommendation, last parked location, malfunction notification, rev dashboard, and ranking (for distance travelled and fuel economy).
The mechanical specifications include a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. Linked to a five-speed gearbox, the motor produces 12.2bhp of power at 7,250rpm and 13.3Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm.
The suspension tasks are handled by 41mm telescopic front forks and a seven-step preload-adjustable rear mono-shock.
The braking setup includes a single 282mm disc at the front and a 220mm rotor at the back. The safety net on the motorcycle is provided by a single-channel ABS and a side-stand engine cut-off function.
