- Yamaha FZ-X likely to arrive in India on 18 June
- Will use a 149cc, air-cooled engine
- Likely to carry a price premium over the FZ FI series
India Yamaha Motor has sent out invitations for a virtual launch that is scheduled to happen on 18 June, 2021. The company has remained tight-lipped about any further details, although we expect to see the FZ-X arrive in the Indian market on the aforementioned date. The upcoming motorcycle was spotted during its commercial shoot in April 2021.
The India-bound FZ-X looks similar to the retro-style Yamaha XSR 155 which is available in the international markets. The styling cues include a round LED headlamp, aluminium-finished brackets, a raised single-piece handlebar, a small radiator guard and a boxy fuel tank. Spy images confirm that the motorcycle will be available in at least three colours – orange, blue, and black.
The mechanical specifications, as confirmed by a leaked document, will include a 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that will produce 12.2bhp. The hardware will be borrowed from the existing FZ series, and the upcoming FZ-X will use telescopic front forks and a rear mono-shock to perform the shock absorption tasks. The braking setup will include disc brakes on both wheels.
The new FZ-X may carry a marginal price premium over the FZ FI series that currently retails from Rs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
