Yamaha has unveiled the 2020 version of its famous maxi-scooter, the Majesty S 155 in Japan. This scooter has been priced at Rs 2.4 lakh in Japan.
For the 2020 variant, the Japanese maker has tried to make this scooter more stylish and aggressive. The front apron gets LED headlight which has integrated projector lamp. There’s a LED strip that flanks the headlamp unit. This Yamaha is loaded with some practical features too. It gets a spacious front pocket, 12V charging point and a large under-seat storage.
In terms of power, the Majesty S 155 uses the same 155cc liquid-cooled engine that we see on the YZF R15. But for the scooter, the power has been detuned to 15bhp at 75000rpm and peak torque of 14Nm at 6000rpm.
As a design concept, the Majesty S could work really well in India. But it will be too pricey in the current avatar. Yamaha should use an air-cooled 150cc motor and maybe reduce some weight. If it manages that, the Aprilia SXR 160 will have a brilliant rival.
