- Could be launched in India
- Powered by an 890cc, inline-three cylinder motor
- Gets a Y-AMT variant internationally
The new Yamaha MT-09 street naked has been showcased in India at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The motorcycle has been under consideration for India, and the expo showcase solidifies Yamaha’s intent to bring it to our shores.
The 2025 MT-09 could pave the way for Yamaha to take on middleweight rivals such as the Kawasaki Z900 and the Triumph Street Triple. The naked streetfighter has received many updates for 2025, including sportier styling, a long features list, and an automatic variant.
The Yamaha MT-09 is powered by an 890cc, inline-triple CP3 engine that produces 117bhp and 93Nm. This motor is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a Y-AMT unit. That said, Yamaha hasn’t showcased the Y-AMT model in India.
The MT-09 gets a long list of features such as a new colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, a six-axis IMU, a slide control system, and traction control. It also gets dual-channel ABS and three ride modes – Street, Rain and Sport. In addition to this, two ride modes can be customised by the rider.
If Yamaha launches the MT-09 in India, expect it to be priced at around Rs. 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
