- Yamaha R15M details and image leaked
- YZF R7-inspired styling on offer
- Marginal drop in power output
Yamaha might soon launch a heavily updated version of its fully-faired offering, the YZF R15 V3, in India. A few days back, a Yamaha test mule has spotted undergoing test runs and that was believed to be the next-generation R15. In an interesting update, details of this updated model have been leaked online through a document. What’s more, the document also mentions a higher-spec M variant of the bike, an image of which has also been leaked.
The picture uncovers an all-new front fascia which is inspired by the new YZF R7 that was globally introduced a few months ago. It sports an LED projector headlamp at the centre which is flanked by thin DRL stripes, lending it a mean look. From the fairing to the tail, the styling looks somewhat similar to the existing R15 V3.
Apart from new looks, a pair of golden upside side forks are also clearly visible. This is a departure from telescopic units in the bike currently on sale. On the flip side, the engine specifications in the leaked document tell a different story. Unfortunately, there’s a mild drop in its power output; it makes 17.8bhp as opposed to the present model’s 18.37bhp. The reason for this will only be known once Yamaha officially unveils it.
Lastly, there could be additional features like a Bluetooth-enabled console too on offer. And these changes will surely increase its price by around Rs 10,000. At present, the base colour variant of the Yamaha R15 V3 costs Rs 1,56,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
