- New Yamaha twins launch soon
- R3, MT03 will be assembled in India
- Will be sold through limited dealerships
Yamaha will finally launch two of its most anticipated motorcycles – the R3 and the MT03 in India. The launch has been planned for the middle of December.
According to a leaked document sent to dealers, Yamaha plans to make these bikes available only through select dealers. There are specific criteria that these dealers have to meet to display, sell and service the R3 and the MT03.
For now, the Japanese brand plans to take bookings only through the brand's official website. Once the booking has been received, Yamaha will then forward the booking to the dealer, who will place the order for the booked bikes. Currently, the dealers' list isn't out, but that is expected to be revealed before this month ends.
Yamaha used to sell the R3 in India a few years ago. It was priced relatively high, yet the product attracted a good fan following. Over the years, the brand realized that the current R15, the FZ and MT15 customers are switching to brands like KTM and Kawasaki as they need motorcycles with more power. Yamaha had no bikes to offer, so it decided to bring the MT03 and the R3 to India.
