New Yamaha YZF-R15 V4.0: Top 5 Highlights

Yamaha Motor India announced the launch of the heavily updated YZF-R15 V4.0 in our market with prices starting from Rs 1,67,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards. Here we explain the top five highlights of the new Yamaha YZF-R15 V4.0.

Design

The latest iteration of the YZF-R15 gets a major makeover. The revised styling brings a single-pod bi-functional LED headlight instead of the twin-pod headlamp on the outgoing version. The updated headlight is flanked by twin LED DRLs. Other styling cues on the Yamaha YZF-R15 V4.0 include a full-fairing, an M air-duct design, step-up seat, and a side-slung exhaust. The new motorcycle is available in five colour choices – Metallic Red, Dark Knight, Racing Blue, R15M, and Monster Energy MotoGP. The prices vary depending on the colour option selected.

Hardware

Apart from the styling, Yamaha has revised the hardware on the new model. The suspension setup now comprises upside-down telescopic front forks instead of conventional units on the old motorcycle. The rear continues to use a preload-adjustable mono-shock. The braking tasks are handled by a 282mm single disc at the front and a 220mm rotor at the back. The YZF-R15 V4.0 retains the deltabox frame.

Engine

The mechanical specifications continue to use a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with the Variable Valve Actuation system. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor makes 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm.
