- Features a brand-new fascia
- Likely to get spoke wheels as a standard offering
- Will be powered by the new 399cc, single-cylinder engine
The next-gen KTM 390 Adventure has been spotted testing again and this time it seems to be around the brand’s Chakan facility. The spy images give us quite a close look at it and reveal a lot of its design details as well.
The updated KTM 390 Adventure has taken its design inspiration from the bigger ADV models and will now get a vertically stacked projector headlight with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. The setup is topped by a transparent visor with a small vent. Then, the test mule is also equipped with a front beak instead of a standard fender. Even the side fairing seems to be a new addition when compared to the current model. In some ways, the design seems to be inspired by the KTM Dakar bike.
KTM will also employ a brand new chassis with the new 390 Duke’s engine. The latter is a 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor and makes 44.25bhp and 39Nm. It comes linked to a six-speed gearbox and gets a bi-directional quickshifter for clutchless gear shifts. KTM should tweak the gearing to suit the ADV application of this bike.
Apart from that, the 390 Adventure test mule has been equipped with a new single-piece seat and a wider grab-rail as well. Notably, it will get an underbelly exhaust like the current Duke. With the aforementioned setup, you can expect the next-generation KTM 390 Adventure to offer more ground clearance than the current bike.
The new chassis is suspended by USD front forks and a monoshock, both of which should be adjustable. The bike rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheel wrapped in block-pattern tyres. That said, KTM has also been testing the new 390 Adventure with a 21-inch front and 19-inch rear spoke wheel in Europe. So, we expect the brand to do the same for the Indian market as well. As far as the brakes are concerned, these look new as well.
On the features front, the bike is likely to get full LED illumination, TFT with smartphone connectivity, ride modes, ABS modes, traction control, quickshifter, and more.
We expect KTM to showcase the next-generation 390 Adventure at the EICMA 2024. This will be followed by its launch early next year. For reference, the top-spec KTM 390 Adventure currently retails at Rs. 3.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). We expect the updated version to cost a few thousand rupees more. Or if KTM feels generous, it could launch the updated 390 Adventure at the current model’s asking price as it did with the new 390 Duke.
