KTM is working on the next-generation KTM RC 390, and a test mule of this upcoming motorcycle has been spotted somewhere in Europe. The spy pictures have revealed various details about this upcoming product from the Austrian manufacturer, and here we explain everything that we know about the KTM RC 390.
What styling cues will the next-generation KTM RC 390 carry?
The test mule of the next-generation KTM RC 390 has revealed the styling cues of the motorcycle. As seen in the photographs, it will boast a single-pod headlight, sleek LED turn indicators, full-fairing, fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors, a muscular fuel tank, split seats, and five-spoke alloy wheels. The styling is noticeably different from the existing motorcycle. Then, the updated design will be accompanied by new paint themes. The details about the colour options, however, are likely to be available closer to its unveiling next year.
What hardware will the next-generation KTM RC 390 get?
The next-generation KTM RC 390 will share its underpinning with the updated 390 Duke, which is expected to arrive in India in 2024. Thus, the next-generation RC 390 will use a new frame and sub-frame setup. The shock absorption and braking, on the other hand, will be similar to the current generation model. Thus, the next-generation KTM RC 390 will use WP-sourced upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock to handle the shock absorption tasks. As for the braking setup, it will use lightweight disc brakes on both wheels.
What engine specifications will the next-generation KTM RC 390 use?
The mechanical specifications will be updated as well, and the next-generation RC 390 will share the updated engine with the 390 Duke. The roadster is expected to get a displacement increase, and we may now see a 399cc engine on the next-generation 390 Duke as against the 373cc motor on the current generation model. The increased displacement will result in a marginal rise in the power and torque output. However, we do not expect to see a major difference in the figures.
What features will the next-generation KTM RC 390 use?
The feature list, as seen in the spy pictures, will comprise full-LED lighting. However, unlike the current generation model, the new version will feature a projector-style LED headlight. Further, the next-generation RC 390 will pack a rear indicator-integrated taillight that will deliver a cleaner and minimalistic look to the motorcycle. This setup will also come in handy when taking the motorcycle to a racetrack. Then, similar to the current-generation model, the new RC 390 will pack a colour-TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity. Notably, we expect to see an updated design for the display – a change that we will also see on the upcoming KTM 390 Duke. Other features will comprise dual-channel ABS, a traction control system, and a quickshifter.
What are the unveiling and launch details of the next-generation KTM RC 390?
The next-generation KTM RC 390 is currently undergoing pre-production test runs, and the spy images have captured an early model. Thus, we expect a late-2024 unveil followed by a launch in 2025. We may see the production-ready model at the 2024 EICMA motorcycle show. The prices will be marginally higher than the current-generation RC 390, which is available at Rs. 3.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
