According to an International source, Kawasaki will replace the Z1000SX with a new road-focused Ninja 1000 which is currently under development. The motorcycle will be the second motorcycle to enter this new segment which Ducati created recently with its SuperSport 939.
The computer-generated image has been developed taking inputs from Kawasaki’s patent drawings. Even though, the motorcycle looks similar to the current Ninja 1000, it will likely be a completely different bike altogether. From the looks of it, Kawasaki will stiffen things up for other manufacturers as it will be the only rival to Ducati’s upcoming sports-tourer. The patent image also shows that the sports-tourer will have wings on the side fairing which is a trickle-down effect from Kawasaki’s flagship H2 models.
The updated Ninja 1000 will use a refreshed version of the engine and chassis from the current Z1000SX and will likely have similar power figures of 140bhp and 111Nm of torque. The motorcycle and this segment is aimed at riders who want a sports bike for the road and not for hardcore track riding.
