KTM’s entire RC line-up is set to be introduced in an all-new avatar with comprehensive changes. Interestingly, the smallest of these, the RC 125, will also be a part of this overhaul. After the bike was spotted multiple times, the official image of the new RC 125 has been leaked recently. These pictures and spy shots have revealed a few details about the bike and we tell you everything we know so far.
Design
Just like the existing line-up, all upcoming RC models will have an identical design, except for different paint schemes. This new-age styling looks inspired by the RC8 sportsbike that’s no longer on sale. Also, the motorcycle doesn’t look as aggressive as the existing RCs. There’s a pentagon-shaped headlamp, a bubble-type windscreen, and turn indicators integrated within the front cowl. As for the colour options, the RC 125 will be available in two dual-tone colours – black with orange and white with orange.
Features
Unlike the RC 125 currently on sale that gets dual projectors at the front, the upcoming model is likely to get a conventional halogen headlamp. The turn indicators and the tail lamp will be LED though. The instrument cluster will also be replaced with a re-designed LCD dash that might show more data now.
Hardware
As observed from the spy shots, KTM has also revised the frame and sub-frame of the motorcycle. Resultantly, the next-generation RC 125 is expected to be spacious and more comfortable. We also expect the suspension setup to be tuned differently to offer a plusher ride quality. Meanwhile, the brakes will certainly remain unchanged.
Engine
The engine of the KTM RC 125 will mostly remain the same as the bike currently on sale. This 125cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine churns out 14.5bhp of power and 12Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Price
KTM retails the existing RC 125 at a steep price tag of Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The upcoming model will surely carry a substantial premium of around Rs 10,000-15,000 over this pricing. It will compete against the Yamaha YZF R15 V3 that too might get an update in the coming months.
