- Next-gen Thunderbird spied with touring accessories
- Gets tall windscreen, new crash guard and pannier mounts
- Featured larger and wider foot-pegs for better touring abilities
Following the slew of spy images of the next-generation Royal Enfield Thunderbird and Classic series test mules, yet another set of images have surfaced on the internet. However, this time, the spy images reveal some of the accessories that will be offered in the next-generation Thunderbird model.
The test mule was spotted with a pillion on-board and was equipped with a couple of accessories that must have been designed for touring purposes. Starting from the front, the motorcycle had a tall transparent windscreen secured using retro-styled mounts followed by a blackened crash guard up front with a slanted design which seems to complement the motorcycle rather than looking bulky and out of place. The rear section of the bike had a box-type frame on either side finished in chrome, which are likely to be pannier mounts. Expect Royal Enfield to offer these mounts in the same blacked-out format like the crash guards. Also, one can expect a similar pannier mounting design for the upcoming Classic models as well.
Furthermore, compared to the previously spied images, the test mule had a different set of pegs that were larger, wider and had a metal base with rubber cushioning to provide grip and absorb vibrations. These foot-pegs are likely to be a part of the touring package along with the other accessories.
The next-gen Thunderbird will be built around a new chassis, receive a complete design revamp, BS-VI compliant engines and a host of other cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. Expect, the all-new Thunderbird along with other products to be launched in the first quarter of 2020 before the BS-VI compliance deadline of 1 April.
