Official:Triumph to start India operations by this November

Triumph India has officially confirmed through a press release that they will commence India operations by November 2013. The company has appointed Mr. Vimal Sumbly as managing director for India operations, who previously managed Bajaj Auto sales as general manager.

Triumph will be assembling some of its models in India at the CKD assembly facility, which is nearing completion at Manesar, Haryana. Triumph is currently looking for dealer partners across strategic locations within India to ensure that customers across the country are able to enjoy the Triumph experience.

Triumph had unveiled 7 models at the 2012 Auto Expo including the Tiger XC, Speed Triple, Street Triple, Storm, Bonneville, Daytona 675 and the Rocket III. During the Auto Expo, the company had announced that some of the products will come to India via CKD route to enable duty savings and later consider full manufacturing as well depending on the market condition. All the motorcycles were launched with mouthwatering prices but we expect the prices to increase when the bookings open due to depreciating rupee and inflation.

"2013 is a very crucial year for Triumph Motorcycles in India and as a company, we are confident about the timing of our market entry. In the past few months, we have carefully assessed the market landscape and will be making well-honed efforts to provide our discerning customers with a complete brand experience,’ said Paul Stroud, director sales and marketing (global), Triumph.

‘I am delighted to have joined Triumph as the brand looks to embark on a well phased out strategy for the Indian market. Our commitment of developing truly iconic motorcycles that are distinctive in looks, design and performance remains ever-present. Soon Indian customers will be able to experience these category wining machines on Indian roads, as the brand looks to elevate the motorcycling paradigm.’said Vimal Subly, managing director, Triumph India.
