- Okinawa electric motorcycle teased
- Official launch could take place soon
- Claimed to deliver a battery range of 150km and a top speed of 100kmph
Okinawa has released a teaser image of its first electric motorcycle, the Oki100, ahead of its official launch that is expected to take place soon. It was previously scheduled to be introduced in the period of October-December 2020, but the plan was postponed due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have already seen the Oki100 in its prototype form at the 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi. Visually, it looked like the shrunken version of the Ducati Monster with an oval-shaped headlamp, rounded and sculpted fuel tank and exposed red-coloured frame. With small overall dimensions and a 12-10-inch wheel combination, the prototype essentially looked like a mini electric bike. Interestingly, it also sported upside down forks. We might see some differences in the production model.
Complete technical details about the bike are yet to be released. All we know as of now are its battery range figure and top speed, which we had revealed in December 2019. Okinawa claims it will be capable of achieving a top speed of 100kmph while the battery range will be around 150kms. Now, these figures sound extremely impressive but can be verified only after the real-world test of the Oki100. Furthermore, it will be powered by a detachable lithium-ion battery but its capacity is not known yet.
Expect the Okinawa Oki100 to be priced around Rs 1 lakh (on-road) and it will go up against the Revolt RV400.
