- Okinawa sales grew by 30 per cent
- Increase in enquiries went up three-fold
- Demand for EVs rising due to increasing petrol prices
Okinawa Autotech witnessed a 30 per cent increase in its electric two-wheeler sales as compared to the previous quarter. It also received three times more enquiries from prospective customers in its dealerships across India. The company claims that this upsurge is courtesy of the consistently rising fuel prices.
As compared to the previous year, the overall growth of Okinawa has been around 35-40 per cent so far while it also claims to have sold the second-highest number of high-speed e-scooters. With the prices of petrol hovering around Rs 100 per litre, two-wheeler users are bound to seek a cheaper mode of transport. Electric two-wheelers fit the bill here with their low running costs as compared to petrol-powered vehicles. Moreover, the adaption of EVs by increasing number of customers will reduce their carbon footprint.
Okinawa’s portfolio currently comprises six electric scooters with prices ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.14 lakh. These include three low-speed scooters including the Okinawa R30, Lite and the Dual. Meanwhile, there are three high-speed electric scooters namely the Okinawa Ridge Plus, Praise Pro and the iPraise Plus. As for its future plan, Okinawa is prepping to launch two new products which will include the Cruiser maxi-scooter and the Oki100 electric motorcycle.
