Okinawa Autotech has recently launched its new flagship offering, the OKHI-90 electric maxi-scooter in India. It boasts a few uncommon traits over other e-scooters available in India. In case you’re planning to buy the scooter anytime soon, here are five things you need to know about it.
Maxi-scooter design
In a first for an electric scooter in India, the OKHi-90 sports a large and flowy maxi design. The front fascia gets a wide apron with a thin chrome stripe accompanied by sleek turn indicators. Even the handlebar cowl, which houses the headlamp, gets a chrome slat. At the rear, there are long and swooping under-seat panels with a wide tail lamp and a sturdy luggage rack.
Trendy features
Okinawa has equipped the scooter with most of the features that are common amongst premium electric scooters these days. The cockpit is occupied by a TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. Besides the basic data, it provides call and notification alerts, insurance and maintenance reminders, speed alerts, and battery-related information. Furthermore, there’s geo-fencing, a USB charging port, under-seat light, and an in-built navigation system.
Impressive specifications
The OKHI-90 is quite impressive when it comes to claimed performance and range figures. It is powered by a 72V50AH lithium-ion battery that supports fast charging and is deliver a range of 160km. Moreover, the mid-mounted can propel it to a top speed of 85-90kmph in Sport mode. As for the Eco mode, it’s good for 55-60kmph of top speed.
Motorcycle-like hardware
To help the OKHI-90 tackle the rough Indian roads and varying terrain efficiently, Okinawa has included large 16-inch alloy wheels at both ends. This is a trait we have never seen before in an e-scooter in India. It also gets relatively longer travel suspension at the front and rear, and a high ground clearance of 175mm. Braking duties are handled by a single disc at both ends with a combined braking system.
Pricing
Okinawa has priced the OKHI-90 quite attractively considering the specifications and features on offer. It costs Rs 1,21,886 (post Fame II subsidy) which goes further Rs 5,000-15,000 lower with the state-level subsidy, depending on the region you buy the scooter in.
