- Hinted by the brand’s CEO on social media
- More details to be out in March next year
The electric two-wheeler segment in India might become more flavourful soon as Ola Electric has hinted that it will be coming up with an electric motorcycle. This was hinted at
through a social media poll conducted by the company CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal.
The top honcho posted a tweet asking netizens about their preferred motorcycle type. A majority of respondents voted in favour of a sportbike which was followed by cruiser, adventure, and cafe racer. Now, apart from the body style, there aren’t any other details available about this electric motorcycle as of now. From what the CEO had stated during the S1 Air launch, more details will come out in March next year, around the festival of Holi.
While we know sportbikes are meant to be aggressive and performance-oriented, we believe Ola will make it more inclined towards comfort and useability, for attracting a larger set of buyers. The design, meanwhile, will certainly be racy and sharp. Also, looking at Ola’s existing products, there won’t be a dearth of features. So, a touchscreen display with a bunch of connectivity features would surely be a part of the package. Also, we expect the battery range to be impressive and the performance on par with 150-160cc petrol-powered motorcycles.
As of now, Ola Electric has two offerings on sale in India including the S1, S1 Pro and S1 Air which are priced at Rs 1 lakh, Rs 1.30 lakh and Rs 85,000, respectively (all prices are ex-showroom, including FAME-II subsidy).
