- Ola is offering free front suspension replacement
- Applicable for existing S1 owners
- Appointment-based replacement
Ola Electric has finally decided to discuss the front-suspension issues its e-scooters have been having over the last few months. The brand has decided to address this issue by replacing the front suspension setup.
According to a statement released by the company on its Twitter account, Ola Electric will offer its customers a chance to replace the older suspension with the new one. However, the brand refuses to call this exercise a recall as it claims no issues with the existing front suspension. Also, Ola Electric will replace the front suspension free of cost and begin this process on 22 March through appointments.
Over the last few months, many S1 customers have reported incidents where the front suspension snapped while riding regularly, leading to bad accidents. These reports weren’t isolated to just one region but were spread across the country. The decision to replace the part of existing S1 buyers is fair, but this indicates issues with the older front suspension, and there could be more incidents in the future. If it wasn’t such a big problem, Ola Electric could have installed the new front suspension assembly only on the more recent batches of the S1 range. But it decided to take this safe route to avoid a logistical nightmare, as it would have to bring in thousands of S1 models, and the brand doesn’t have a chain of service centres spread across the country.
