- Ola Electric working on five new e-scooters
- To launch touring and adventure scooters
- Products are still in initial phase
Ola Electric seems to be working on a plan to expand its electric scooter range. Recently, the company released its future electric scooter plans through a presentation.
Based on this presentation, Ola Electric is developing electric scooters that will be launched in various segments. The company plans to expand its EV range with the introduction of S2 and S3 brands. Currently, all the Ola scooters available in the market are sold under the S1 brand. But with the S2 and S3 range, the company is looking to offer a premium range of electric scooters.
In the presentation, a total of five new e-scooters were shown. Under S2, there are three variants – City, Tourer and Sports and under S3, there are Grand Adventure and Grand Tourer. While all of these are likely to be in the initial stages of discussion, it is clear that Ola Electric wants to address the premium EV range, which is likely to grow in the next few years.
Ola Electric claims that the future products will be based on the Gen 3 platform, and will see better performance and riding range. However, the prices of these products are likely to be above Rs 2 lakh, and that means, it will cater to a niche segment.
From the past experiences, it is clear that Ola Electric likes to showcase a lot of products and tech, and some of them do make it to the market. But it has failed to address the after-sales experience of Indian customers. According to various social media posts and stories, a lot of S1 e-scooter owners are finding it difficult to get their vehicles serviced. In fact, there have been various videos where these customers have got a bit aggressive with the Ola service centre staff due to poor experience. The company should focus on addressing these customers on priority or else the word of mouth would hamper the brand’s future growth.
