- Simple Energy setting up its plant in Hosur
- To have an annual production capacity of one million units
- First electric scooter to be launched on 15 August
Simple Energy, a new electric two-wheeler manufacturer based out of Bangalore, has revealed its plans related to the establishment of its manufacturing facility and production capacity. The company will have its factory in Hosur, Tami Nadu where the process of setting up the facility has already begun. Simple Energy also claims that this plant will be capable of dispatching up to one million electric two-wheelers in a year.
To achieve that feat, the company is constructing a plant sprawled across two lakh square feet where operations are set to begin later this year. Promoting the Make in India initiative, it will also result in the availability of as many as 1000 jobs. Simple Energy has also revealed that it plans to invest Rs 350 crore in the next two years, looking at the growing adaption and demand for electric vehicles.
The Bangalore-based company had stated last month that its first electric scooter will be called the Simple One. The highlight of this scooter is its claimed battery range of 240km that will be the longest in India, at least on paper. Moreover, it will be equipped with an electric motor capable of delivering a top speed of 100kmph. The pricing might also be quite competitive, somewhere between Rs 1.10-1.20 lakh. This e-scooter will be launched on 15 August, 2021.
Simple Energy will go up against the likes of Ola Electric that’s another upcoming electric two-wheeler brand with big plans. In fact, the latter has claimed that it will eventually have an annual production capacity of 10 million units. So, it’s clear that the competition in the EV segment is really going to heat up and multiple players will be hustling to create their mark in this burgeoning sector.
