Ola Electric has launched the Gig and Gig Plus electric scooters that are suitable for commercial purposes. While the prices of the former start from Rs. 40,000, the latter starts from Rs. 50,000.
Both scooters are meant to be robust workhorses and incorporate removable batteries. However, the Gig, being the more affordable of the two, gets a single 1.5kWh battery that is claimed to deliver a range of 112km. This battery powers a 250W motor that can propel the scooter to a top speed of 25kmph. The Gig Plus, meanwhile, can be used with two 1.5kWh batteries which concertedly deliver a claimed range of around 157km. It also gets a bigger 1.5kW motor which can attain a top speed of 45kmph. Considering the average running cost of an ICE scooter, these scooters are touted to be 93.4 per cent more frugal in terms of daily running cost.
The Gig looks completely bare-bone with minimal body panels and a luggage rack at the front and rear. The Gig Plus, meanwhile, looks slightly more attractive with additional body cladding up front sporting more vibrant colours. Both variants ride on 12-inch wheels at both ends with telescopic forks and dual springs. Braking is handled by drums at both ends.
The Ola Gig and Gig Plus can be reserved for Rs. 499 through the company’s official website. Deliveries of the scooters will commence from April 2025.
