- Ola could launch a new e-scooter variant on 15 August
- Had discontinued the entry-level variant a few months ago
Ola Electric is planning to unveil a new electric product on 15 August. And this new EV could be a new variant of the S1 e-scooter that is on sale currently.
The company’s top honcho had tweeted about this launch. Moreover, the company has plans to enter the electric car segment and Independence Day could be the best day to announce a project like this. We believe the electric car is in the early stage of development. We are expecting Ola to launch a new variant of the S1 Pro that could be priced lower than the existing one. The company had an entry-level variant which was later discontinued. Ola claimed that the sales were higher for the Pro model and it made sense for them to just manufacture that.
But there’s a high chance the company could reintroduce an entry-level model as the company hasn’t been selling e-scooters as much as it had planned. The price of the Pro variant is quite high and that is restricting it from becoming a mass-market model. For Ola to keep its factory busy, it needs lots of sales and that will only come from an EV with a good price point.
