Ola Electric recently launched three motorcycles in India with the most affordable one being the Roadster X. The company took everyone by surprise with the price of the bike – it starts from Rs. 75,000, ex-showroom. Despite the accessible price, the motorcycle is appealing as an overall package. In that case, let’s see what it has to offer.
Performance
Powering the Roadster X is an 11kW motor that can propel it to a top speed of 124kmph in Sport riding mode. Including Normal and Eco, there are three modes in total and the top speed varies as per the selected mode. Ola claims that this electric motorcycle can go from zero to 40kmph in 2.8 seconds which should make it fun to ride.
Range
The Roadster X will be available with three battery pack options – 2.5kWh, 3.5kWh, and 4.5kWh and the top-end variant costs Rs. 1 lakh, ex-showroom. The maximum certified range from the variant with the biggest battery is 200km. While the real-world range might be less, it should be over 150km which is still impressive.
Features
The motorcycle is the most impressive in this area. It comes with a 4.3-inch segmented LCD console with turn-by-turn navigation and connectivity features. Moreover, there’s a full LED lighting system, advanced regenerative braking, cruise control, reverse mode, tyre pressure monitoring system, and geo and time fencing. It will get Ola’s latest Move OS5 software from the factory itself.
Cycle parts
The Roadster X rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by telescopic forks and dual springs. Braking is handled by a single disc at the front and a drum at the rear with a combined braking system, instead of ABS. Unlike the top-end Roadster Pro which gets clip-on handlebars, the X is equipped with a simpler, single-piece tubular handlebar along with a flat and long seat.
Availability
As of now, the Ola Roadster X hasn’t reached the dealerships. The company has announced that the deliveries of the motorcycle will start around January-March 2025 and the bike should reach dealerships for test rides around the same time. While the prices are enticing as of now, we expect them to be bumped up soon after the deliveries start.
