Ola Electric recently invited us to their factory to ride their newest and most affordable offering yet, the S1 Air. This is the lower-spec iteration of the S1 Pro that has been a big success for the brand over the last few months. Now, is the S1 Air worthy of your consideration? Read our first ride review to find out. As of now, let’s check out the key details of the scooter along with its pictures from our review.
Visually, the S1 Air is nearly identical to the Pro variants with the neatly flowing design lines of its curvy body panels. However, there are subtle differences like the dual-tone panels and larger grab rails on the S1 Air.
Also, the S1 Air’s new Gen 2 platform brings along a revised bodywork that’s more functional than before. Unlike the S1 Pro’s footboard which has a protruding centre spine, the S1 Air boasts a flat footboard for better usability.
The cycle parts of the newer S1 are more traditional. It rides on steel wheels that are suspended by telescopic forks and dual springs while braking is handled by a drum at both ends.
The S1 Air runs on a hub-mounted motor with a peak power output of 4.5kW and 150Nm of torque. This motor is propelled by a 2.98kWh battery pack which is claimed to charge fully in five hours via a conventional charger.
As for the performance numbers, it delivers a top speed of 90kmph and a claimed ideal driving condition range of 125km when ridden in Eco mode.
Similar to the S1 Pro, the Air comes loaded with fancy features like a keyless startup system with a digital key, navigation, multiple regenerative braking levels, the option to listen to music on the go, and more.
A large 34-litre under-seat storage space is also available that can accommodate two half-face helmets, although we couldn’t fit in a full-blown, L-sized, full-face helmet.
