- Ola S1 launched under Rs 1 lakh
- Gets lesser riding range
- Top speed limited to 95kmph
Ola Electric has decided to expand its electric-scooter range. It has now introduced its most affordable model – the S1.
The Ola S1 is priced at Rs 99,999 and that’s the introductory price. This model looks exactly like the S1 Pro. All the cycle parts, too, are similar to the S1 Pro model. But there have been a few changes and deletions on this model to bring the price tag to around Rs 1 lakh.
First, the performance for the S1 comes from the same 8.5kW peak motor that is seen on the S1 Pro variant. But the top speed has been capped at 95kmph. Then, the overall riding range is lesser at 128km in eco mode. The normal mode has a range of 101km and the sports mode can do 90km. These are all claimed numbers. The S1 misses out on the hyper mode that is available on the S1 Pro.
In terms of features and software, the S1 misses out on cruise control. But things like Bluetooth and navigation are available on the S1. This model, too, will continue to get OTA updates with the Move OS3, expected to be pushed by October.
The bookings for the S1 have already commenced with deliveries expected to begin next month. With the S1, Ola Electric is expecting to gain more sales and market share and that means its large factory could produce EVs as expected.
