Ola Electric has voluntarily recalled 1,441 units of its S1 Pro electric scooter following the fire incident that took place in Pune, Maharashtra. The company said in its statement that this is a pre-emptive measure and that it will be conducting detailed diagnostics and health checks of the scooters in that specific batch. This particular recall affects 1,441 units of the company’s electric scooter, the S1 Pro.
Apart from Ola Electric, manufacturers like Okinawa and Pure EV, too, have recalled their electric scooters from the Indian market. Pure EV has recalled 2,000 units of its ETrance+ and EPluto 7G electric scooters following the fire incidents that took place in Nizamabad and Chennai. Earlier in April 2022, Okinawa Autotech voluntarily recalled 3,215 units of Praise Pro scooters to fix any issue related to batteries.
In more updates, the Government of India plans to impose heavy fines and penalties on electric two-wheeler companies if they are found to be negligent in the overall quality aspect of the vehicles. This development has come after a series of electric two-wheelers caught fire in different cities of the country.
