- Features new suspension, floorboard design and more
- Gets more range and a higher top speed
- Price hiked by about Rs. 7,000
Ola Electric has launched the S1 Pro Gen 2 electric scooter in India. It has received a few tweaks over the Gen 1 model and also a price hike for the same. Let’s take a look at it.
The new S1 Pro Gen 2 has retained the design cues from the Gen 1. So, it features the same curvy and flowing large side panels, swanky design and the twin projector LED headlight. However, Ola has eliminated the spine from the floorboard thereby making it a proper flat unit. This should offer more convenience in terms of storage space at the front. Then, Ola has also made hardware changes like replacing the front and rear monoshock with telescopic front forks and a new rear monoshock. Even the swingarm unit is brand new on the new S1 Pro Gen 2. The two-piece grab rail offered on the Gen 1 has been replaced with a single-piece tubular unit.
Apart from the above-mentioned tweaks, Ola has increased the range and top speed for the S1 Pro Gen 2. It’s powered by a 4kWh battery linked to a 5kW motor and now gets a claimed range of 195km and a top speed of 120kmph. For reference, the S1 Pro Gen 1 gets a maximum range of 181km and a 116kmph top speed. Even the peak power for the new motor is higher at 11kW instead of 8kW.
Ola has employed a new tubular and sheet metal frame for the S1 Pro Gen 2 and also replaced the previous drum brake with a disc unit for the latest iteration. There are no changes to the features list and it continues to offer four ride modes (eco, normal, sport and hyper), smartphone connectivity, ride moods, music, call and SMS notifications and more.
The asking price for the new Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 is set at Rs. 1,47,499 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). That’s about Rs. 7,000 more than the Gen 1 model. Overall, Ola Electric’s current portfolio comprises of the S1 Pro, S1 Air and the S1X range.
