Ola Electric has updated its portfolio with the addition of new variants of its existing products. Previously, we explained the details of the most affordable variant of the S1 range, the S1 Air. Here, we explain all the variants of the company’s mid-spec variant, the S1.
Ola S1: Battery and Range
Previously, the Ola S1 was available in a single variant. Now, the company has added an affordable variant to the list, and features a smaller battery pack. Thus, Ola S1 is now available with a 2kwh and a 3kWh battery. The smaller battery pack is claimed to deliver a range of 91km while the larger capacity variant is said to return a range of 141km on a full charge (both figures are ARAI certified). The home charging time for the 3kW version is rated at five hours, while the 2kW variant is claimed to take four hours to fully recharge.
Ola S1: Engine and Performance
Meanwhile, both variants use the same 5.5kWh electric motor. However, the lower variant comes with a claimed top speed of 90kmph, while the higher version is said to achieve a maximum speed of 95kmph.
Ola S1: Styling and Colours
The styling of the S1 remains similar to the rest of the range, and it uses a twin-pod headlight with ring-style LED DRL, curvy body panels, a flat saddle, and a twin-piece pillion grabrail. The new S1 variant will also be available in all 11 colour palettes – Gerua, Matt Black, Coral Glam, Millennial Pink, Porcelain White, Midnight Blue, Jet Black, Marshmellow, Anthracite Grey, Liquid Silver, and Neo Mint. Unlike the base variant, this mid-version rides on alloy wheels and features a 36-litre under-seat storage space. With a larger battery pack, the 3kW variant also carries a higher kerb weight of 121kg, while the 2kW version tips the weighing scale at 116kg.
Ola S1: Features
The difference between the two variants is limited to the battery capacity and performance. Meanwhile, the feature list is identical on both versions, and the S1 range comes with full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled seven-inch colour TFT display, three ride modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport), side stand alert, and reverse mode. This variant, unlike the Pro version, misses the Hyper mode and cruise control system. The safety net, similar to the rest of the variants, includes a combined braking system.
Ola S1: Hardware
The S1 range is built around a tubular frame and uses a single front fork and rear mono-shock to handle the suspension tasks. The braking setup includes a 220mm disc at the front and a 180mm rotor at the back. While the kerb weight is different for the two variants, the dimensions are identical on both versions.
Ola S1: Price, Bookings, and Deliveries
The base model with a 2kW battery pack is priced at Rs 99,999, while the higher version with 3kW capacity is available at Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom, Bangalore). The purchase window for the new S1 range has opened already, and the deliveries will begin in March 2023.
