Yesterday, Ola Electric launched the S1 electric scooter in India as its most affordable offering. It looks identical to the S1 Pro but has notable differences too. Let’s take a look at all of them.
Battery
While the S1 has carried over the design from the S1 Pro, it gets a smaller 3kWh battery instead of the 4kWh unit. This translated to a less range for the base model than the Pro. Ola claims that the S1 can clock 141km (ARAI range) while the S1 Pro’s claimed figure is 181km. Meanwhile, the True range for the S1 is claimed to be 128km (Eco) and the S1 Pro is said to deliver 170km. The charging time for the S1’s battery is five hours, while that for the S1 Pro is six hours and thirty minutes.
Top Speed and Riding Modes
Ola has equipped the S1 with the same 5.5kW motor as the S1 Pro. Its peak output is rated at 8.5kW but the top speed for the S1 is capped at 95kmph unlike the Pro’s claimed figure of 115kmph. The base model also gets Eco, Normal and Sport modes while the Pro features the aforementioned modes plus the Hyper mode as well.
Features
Ola has offered a boat load of features on both models. From the 7-inch TFT touchscreen to the ride modes, navigation, music playback, Bluetooth connectivity, reverse mode and LED illumination, the S1 gets pretty much the same features as the S1 Pro. However, it misses out on cruise control. That said, Ola is yet to roll out other features like hill hold, voice control, moods and widgets and more.
Colours
You can buy the S1 in five colour options while the S1 Pro is offered in 11 different options.
Pricing
The asking price for the Ola S1 is set to Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom Delhi including FAME II subsidy) while the S1 Pro retails at Rs 1,49,999 (ex-showroom Delhi including FAME II subsidy).
