Ola Electric recently launched the S1 electric scooter in India as its most affordable offering. It sits below the S1 Pro and has quite a few rivals in the same price bracket and segment. One of the prominent names in the S1’s crosshair is the TVS iQube. Let’s compare the two Indian electric scooters and see how they fare on paper.
Design
The Ola S1 is identical to the S1 Pro. It gets the same flowing body panels, twin LED projector lights with an LED bezel, and the central spine as well. The TVS iQube gets a rather conventional scooter design. Its floorboard is flat, body panels have creases and looks rather traditional, in a good manner.
Features
Ola has equipped the S1 with a boatload of features. It currently has the MoveOS 2 and gets three ride modes – Eco, Normal and Sport – reverse mode, Bluetooth connection, navigation as well as music playback. All of these features can be accessed on its full TFT touchscreen instrument cluster. On the other hand, the TVS iQube too comes loaded with features. It too gets a touchscreen TFT display to toggle between various riding modes, smartphone connectivity with TVS SmartXonnect, ride data and more.
Motor and Battery
Powering the Ola S1 is an 8.8kW motor (peak power) mated to a 3kWh battery with a claimed range of 141km. Ola claims that the S1's top speed is limited to 95kmph. TVS has equipped the iQube with a 4.4kW motor and a 3.04kWh battery with a maximum range of 100km. Its top speed is capped at 78kmph. The claimed charging time for the Ola S1 is five hours and that for the iQube is four hours and thirty minutes.
Hardware
The Ola S1 rides on a single front shock and a single monoshock while the iQube gets telescopic front forks and twin rear shocks. Both scooters have front disc brakes but the Ola gets a disc brake at the rear also.
Price
Currently, the asking price for Ola S1 is set to Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru, including FAME II) and the TVS iQube costs Rs 1,12,230 (on-road Bengaluru).
