-The Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 had previously received the PLI
-Meets criteria of 50 percent localisation
-Available for the 3kWh and 4kWh battery pack variants
The Ola S1 X in the 3kWh and 4kWh trims have received the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) certificate by the International Center for Automotive Technology or ICAT. The S1 X received the certificate after complying with the mandate of at least 50 percent of localisation in the scooter.
Ola will receive incentives for five years. Getting the PLI certificate was important as it allows Ola to reap the benefits of the incentive which it can then pass on to the customer by pricing the scooter competitively. It also reduces the dependance on importing raw materials used to make the scooter.
The Ola S1 X sits at the entry level of the Ola product pyramid where cost of purchase will influence buying decisions. The PLI scheme will certainly benefit.
Ola recently teased the third generation of its scooters which will hit the market in some time. The company also introduced three new electric motorcycles recently.
