Ola Electric recently launched its most affordable offering, the S1X in three trims S1X (2kWh), S1X (3kWh) and S1X Plus. It’s based on the existing S1 e-scooter line but gets various tweaks to the design as well as internals. Here are its top highlights.
How different is the Ola S1X’s design?
While Ola has retained a majority of design from the S1 Pro, the S1X still gets some notably distinct elements. For reference, the headlight cowl is large and the handlebar too appears different as it remains slightly exposed at the cowl’s end. Then, the X gets round mirrors and it comes draped in a funky two-tone paint scheme. It’s equipped with a new tubular single piece grab rail at the rear. For added convenience, the S1X comes with a flat floorboard just like the other Ola scooters.
What features does the S1X get?
Along with LED illumination, the S1X comes with a new instrument console. The Plus variant comes with a five-inch LCD while the remaining two get a smaller, 3.5-inch unit. Moreover, the top-spec model also comes with keyless operations while the base and mid-spec get a physical key. All variants come with three ride modes - eco, normal and sport - as well as a reverse mode, and side stand alert. But the OTA updates, music control, navigation, smartphone connectivity, remote boot/unlock, cruise control and Ola app connectivity are exclusive to the S1X Plus.
What are the battery and motor specifications of the new Ola S1X electric scooter?
Powering the S1X base trim is a 2kWh Lithium-ion battery with a 2.7kW motor. It gets a top speed of 85 kmph and a maximum true range of 85km. Meanwhile, the S1X mid-spec model gets a 3kWh battery linked to a 2.7kW motor. It gets a top speed of 90kmph and 125km of maximum range. Last but not least, the S1X Plus comes with a 3kWh battery and 2.7kW, it gets a 90kmph top speed and 125km range.
What’s the hardware setup like on the new S1X?
All three models ride on telescopic front forks and dual rear springs. The braking setup comprises drum brakes at both ends and CBS. These are mounted on steel wheels wrapped in road-biased tyres.
How much does the Ola S1X scooter cost?
The asking price for the base model is set to Rs. 79,999 while the 3kWh and the Plus models cost Rs. 89,999 and Rs. 99,999 (all ex-showroom, Bengaluru) respectively. That said, these are the introductory prices and will be revised with a Rs. 10,000 hike on 22 August. So, the S1X (2kWh) would cost Rs. 89,999 while the S1X (3kWh) and S1X Plus will be priced at Rs. 99,999 and Rs. 1.09 lakh (all ex-showroom, Bengaluru) respectively.
