- New Ola S1 e-scooter being planned
- Information teased on Twitter
- Launch in July
Ola Electric is planning to expand its electric-scooter line-up next month. The company's top honcho has teased a new variant of the S1, which will be launched next month.
According to the tweet, this upcoming variant of the S1 is being positioned as an electric scooter that could affect the sales of petrol-powered scooters. This makes us believe that the company plans to launch a variant that could be the most affordable model in the line-up.
When a company claims to end ICE scooters, it tries to excite the market with these claims. The Ola S1 Air is the most affordable variant at Rs 1.07 lakh (ex-showroom). There's the S1 model that is priced at Rs 1.44 lakh and the S1 Pro at Rs 1.55 lakh. Ola could launch a sub-Rs 1 lakh variant that could help the brand get more sales.
Ola Electric has been trying to sell its electric scooters in volumes. It sells the most e-scooters in the country, but to keep its factory, which is being claimed to be the world's largest, it needs more volumes, and that could be achieved only by a highly affordable e-scooter.
