- Updated engine feature two catalytic convertors
- The motor also gets two Oxygen sensors
- To comply with Euro5 emission norms
Patent images have revealed the blueprint of a cleaner 250cc parallel-twin cylinder engine from Suzuki Motorcycles. The motor currently powers the GSX250R and V-Strom 250.
As seen in the patent images, the updated motor could be accompanied by a new exhaust system. Moreover, the updated engine could arrive with an additional catalytic convertor. The patent images reveal the second catalytic convertor that sits closer to the exhaust ports. The second converter, which was also seen on the old version, sits under the engine. Apart from the two catalytic converters, the engine also features two oxygen sensors.
The updates will help the Japanese manufacturer comply with the more stringent Euro5 emission norms. The twin-cylinder powered GSX250R and V-Strom 250 are not expected to arrive in the Indian market anytime soon.
In other updates, the Indian arm of the two-wheeler manufacturer has started to export the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250 to Japan. The quarter-litre naked roadster and fully-faired motorcycles are priced at 448,800 yen (Rs 3.07 lakh) and 481,800 yen (Rs 3.30 lakh) respectively.
