Piaggio is gearing up to launch two brand new products at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo. The company will launch one new motorcycle and one new scooter.
The motorcycle in question is a 150cc premium bike that will take on the Yamaha YZF-R15. A few years ago, the company had showcased the RS 150 which received some really good response. But a few months later, the company showed the GPR 150, which is sold in China. It’s still not clear which bike will make its way to India next year.
The scooter in question will be a part of a brand new family that has been in the works for the last 3 years. This new range will have two versions – 125cc and 160cc. The Italian company is planning to bring the 160cc version first, followed by the 125cc a few months later. This new scooter has been developed specifically for the Indian market, and a lot of focus has gone in making it a value-for-money product. So things like features, comfort and performance are likely to be best in the class.
Piaggio’s sales have reduced drastically over the last few months, blame the industry slowdown and the average price of their scooters. But the company is betting big on these launches and is hoping to capture an additional market share.
