Piaggio India is planning to equip anti-lock braking system (ABS) in some of the Vespa range of scooters. The company is currently in the process of doing a feasibility study around the same.
While the ABS systems are a safety feature, Piaggio also wants to market it as a premium feature for its Vespa scooters due to their positioning in the Indian market. Interestingly, the company recently imported the Vespa Sprint S150 ABS from Italy for research and development purposes. The Sprint S150 is a sportier version of the Primavera range of Vespa scooters. However, the Indian market doesn’t get the Primavera scooters yet.
We believe the Italian manufacturer might launch the Vespa Sprint in India, which will get ABS and act as a brand that gets safety features too. We also spoke to a couple of dealers, who mentioned about the company’s intention of launching scooters with more features.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more information from Piaggio.
