- Launches Connectivity smartphone application
- Available as standard on Aprilia SR 150 Race
- Can be retrofitted to other models
Piaggio has introduced a new smartphone application called Vespa Connectivity for Vespa and Aprilia brands. This new service is bundled up with the newly launched SR 150 Race and the Vespa SXL 150.
The Vespa Connectivity application is available for both, android and iOS users. To use this service, the rider needs to pair his or her smartphone via Bluetooth. Once done, the rider needs to input the scooter’s chassis number on the app, so that the application can keep a track and fetch ride and vehicle data. Other than this, the rider can locate the place where the scooter is parked. It also has a panic alert system, which connects you to the pre-designated contacts in case of an emergency. It gives out a reminder for a pending service, book a service and helps owners locate the nearest service stations. Other services include assistance for locating fuel stations and a customer care service.
While this new service comes as standard on the Aprilia SR 150 Race and the Vespa 150cc scooters, the company is also providing it as an accessory to the Aprilia SR 150 and the Vespa 125ccc range. Unfortunately, the scooters that have been manufactured before September 2018 won’t be able to enjoy this new technology as the cost involved will be close to Rs 8000. Due to this, the company isn’t marketing them as they believe that the adoption rate will be very less.
