Piaggio, today announced the launch of their new sporty Vespa S for Rs 74,414 (ex-showroom Pune). The stylish vehicle comes in an all new orange and matt black colour. Bringing in some more style quotient for the event was Bollywood actor Imran Khan who unveiled the new vehicles on stage.
The newly launched Vespa S aims to strengthen the company's position in the premium scooter segment, where it is trying to cement itself. Vespa S joins the earlier launched Vespa LX and the VX. Vespa S has been designed keeping the Italian company’s 1970 heritage in mind. The design takes its cues from the 70s models like the Vespa 50 Special and the Vespa Primavera.
Powering this Vespa is the 125cc 3-valve engine which makes 10.06PS of power and 10.6Nm of torque and it comes mated to a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) automatic transmission.
The Vespa S looks similar to the existing Vespa LX 125, however, a closer inspection would reveal design tweaks like the square headlight and the aggressive mudguard that makes the front suspension visible distinguishing it from the LX 125.
The seats now come with a contrasting white piping which adds to its charm. The instrument cluster has been redesigned to add to its retro appeal and sports an analogue speedometer, fuel gauge and a digital clock. The Vespa S comes loaded with disc brakes, tubeless tyres, a single piece steel monocoque chassis and is available in four colours including red and white as well.
