Piaggio India has resumed manufacturing operations at its Baramati plants after receiving the necessary permissions. The plants will follow strict safety protocol as per the government directions. The company has also opened six regional offices across the country.
The company is currently operating with a minimum workforce of essential employees. It plans to ramp up gradually and move to full capacity. Piaggio India has initiated various new health, safety and sanitisation measures over and above the existing ones. The company, for example, has done the mass sanitisation of all three plants in Baramati. Moreover, it has made necessary changes to ensure that social distancing norms are strictly followed during operations. The company is also tracking the health of its employees daily.
Apart from commencing the manufacturing operations, Piaggio India also announced that it has reopened 135 commercial vehicle dealerships and 65 two-wheeler (Vespa and Aprilia) outlets in the country. The company aims to ensure that the customers have access to service centres too.
Diego Graffi, MD & CEO of Piaggio Vehicles said in the press announcement that the company’s number one priority is the health and safety of the stakeholders, employees, customers, dealers and suppliers. He further added that the company is taking all the necessary precautions which are required for the safety and well-being of the employees at the factories.
