- It currently has 250 active dealerships across India
- Aims to widen its dealership reach across the country
- Will continue to be in the premium segment
Piaggio, the brand which sells Vespa and Aprilia scooters in India, is planning to widen its dealership reach by setting up 100 new showrooms. The company plans to implement this by the end of calendar year 2019. This was revealed by Diego Graffi, the managing director and chief executive officer of Piaggio India. With this, the Italian brand aims to have a total of 350 active dealerships across India, up from current 250 sales outlets.
In terms of dealership network, Piaggio has its presence in only a few regions of India. This is owing to their late re-entry in the Indian market, according to the top official of the company. The top honcho also stated that Piaggio has been facing challenges lately due to the new insurance rule and the upcoming safety regulations which have made their products costlier. Despite this, the company doesn’t want to enter into the mass market segment, be it Indian or international market, and will continue with its premium line-up.
