Just yesterday we got the pictures of the Vespa S that were clicked in a showroom, making us believe about a possible launch around the corner. Now we have an official word on the launch that will happen on March 4 in Mumbai.
The Vespa S was first showcased for the Indian market at the 2014 Auto Expo. It did catch some eyeballs, along with the Vespa 946, and looks quite different from the Vespa LX125 and VX125. The scooter gets a rectangular headlight, different mudguard design and square rear view mirrors. Other than this, it also gets a new instrument cluster that is surrounded with black colour. Like the VX125, the S variant also gets a disc brake at the front for better stopping power.
Mechanically, the Vespa S is powered by 125cc single-cylinder engine that produces 10bhp at 7,500rpm and 10.6Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a continuous variable transmission and is no more different from other Vespa’s when it comes to performance.
The Vespa S will get four colours - Red, White, Orange and Matte Black out of which the Matte Black looks the best due to its nature. With a price tag of Rs 74,414 (ex-showrrom Pune) India just got its most expensive scooter.
