Piaggio also has plans to go green in future. The company has unveiled their Vespa Elettrica e-scooter at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018.
This EV retains the traditional Vespa design but is now equipped with modern electric powertrain. The electric motor generates around 2kW under normal riding. The motor is capable enough to churn out 4kW whenever needed. The standard model can be ridden for around 100km before charging, whereas the X model can do almost double at 200km. This is possible as the X model also sports a four-stroke petrol motor that does the job of charging the battery. This motor doesn’t power the scooter. The Italian maker claims that the scooter can be fully charged in just four hours, which is a good duration.
The EV is also equipped with a colour TFT display which gets an integrated multimedia system with Bluetooth connectivity. This scooter is expected to go sale this year globally. But we don’t think it will make it to India anytime soon.
