- RS 400, Tuono 400 under development
- India launch by 2023
- Being developed in Italy
Piaggio India is working on a brand new motorcycle platform for the Indian market. The company will introduce a range of motorcycles in the 350cc-450cc segment under the Aprilia brand.
This development was confirmed by Diego Graffi, CEO, Piaggio India. The top honcho went on to say that these bikes currently are in concept phase and will hit the Indian market in next 2.5-3 years. Earlier, the company had showcased the RS150 and the Tuono 150 at one of the Auto Expos to gauge everyone’s reaction. While the response to these concepts were good, the company saw the trend shifting towards 350cc-450cc motorcycles.
These large capacity motorcycles will be designed by the company’s team in Italy but will be manufactured in India. These bikes are likely to borrow design language from its larger sibling and will also be equipped with class-leading features. In terms of pricing, expect these bikes to be the most expensive in the segment as the company is bound to demand a premium for its brand.
